Courtney Shanade Salter, also known as Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed by the label's debut female singer on Dreamville Records by J. Cole. The label debuted her first EP, Pho, in October 2016 where she started to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby her debut album was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox first released songs online in the year 2012. The singer released her debut album Ariography and debut mixtape in 2013 with the mixtape Five Finger Discount. In 2014, Ari Lennox dropped her single Bound and the mixtape she self-released, Five Finger Discount. The 21st of July, 2015 was the day Omen featured her on his album Elephant Eyes on the track Sweat it Out. In the following year, her music circulated all over the Dreamville group as J. Cole wanted her to collaborate with him on some potential references to Rihanna. The announcement of her decision to be signed to Dreamville Records was made on the 8th day of December. Backseat is a song that was written by her and Cozz for the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II. The singer released Pho, her debut album on October 21 the 21st of October, 2016. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as opening the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. She was accompanied by EarthGang. In 2018, she performed as a guest on two songs, with the EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song as well as Bas's Icarus. On the 16th of July in 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream on her first album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanied music video on September 5. On November 9, she released two additional singles: forty Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. In November 2013, she dropped No One, and Pedigree. She appeared with Cole on the Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby, on November 16and later she released the song in a solo version on her first album. On February 20, 2019, a music video was made available for the track. It has already received over 3 millions views on YouTube within its first week. The singer was a supporting artist for 6LACK on their From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
